3 Ways To Make Rice At Home

Rice is one of the oldest basic ingredients in the world. This food is cheap and very useful in the kitchen. Rice can be eaten as a garnish for meat or fish, but also as a main course. 1. One of the easiest ways to make rice

Preparing a simple pilaf can be more complicated than it seems. The rice must not stick to the pan and must have a perfect texture. The results and the way of cooking depend on the type of rice used (there are over 2000 dishes).

  • 4 cups boiling water (1 l)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (20 g)

  2. Stir until the rice becomes transparent. 
  3. Add boiling water and salt, then mix.
  4. Cover the pan and let the rice simmer for 17-20 minutes. 
  5. Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving on plates.

White rice goes well with meat, fish, vegetables and is an excellent ingredient in salads. For extra flavor, you can add crushed garlic or onion or you can replace the water with vegetable or chicken soup.

2. Lemon rice

Here is one of the most interesting ways to make rice at home. Lemon pilaf is suitable for all kinds of dishes.

ingredients

  • Salt (to taste)
  • Lemon juice (20 ml)
  • ½ cup of chopped coriander (50 g)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (20 g)
  • ½ teaspoon of curry powder (3 g)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (5 g)
  • 2 cups boiled white rice (400 g)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds (10 g)
  • ½ cup of oily fruits (nuts, almonds, etc.) (100 g)

Method of preparation

  1. Put the oil in the pan. Once heated, add the mustard seeds, walnuts, ginger and curry. Stir continuously for two minutes.
  2. Add the boiled rice and lemon juice and mix well. Let the mixture boil for 3-4 minutes or until the rice is hot.
  3. Add a little coriander and serve.

3. Risotto with mushrooms

Risotto is a rice dish originating in Italy that has become known and appreciated all over the world. For this recipe, it is recommended to use round grain rice, because it contains a large amount of starch, which means that it combines excellently with many foods.

As we well know, risotto has a very creamy consistency. Unlike dry pilaf, which absorbs water, risotto allows for the gradual addition or removal of liquids.

ingredients

  • 1 onion (40 g)
  • 2 cups rice (400 g)
  • Olive oil (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Packet of butter (50 g)
  • ½ cup of white wine (50 ml)
  • Grated Parmesan (to taste)
  • 1 liter of vegetable soup (celery, carrot, onion and garlic)
  • 2 cups mushrooms. You can use any type of mushroom you want. (400 g)

Method of preparation

  1. Make vegetable soup. Add two liters of water to a saucepan. Add the celery, onion, carrot and garlic cut into large pieces. Sprinkle with salt and simmer for 35-40 minutes. Set the mixture aside.
  2. Clean and chop the mushrooms. Brown them a little in the pan with olive oil and a little garlic. Set it aside.
  3. Cut the onion into cubes. 
  4. In a large skillet, add a little olive oil and onion. Once it becomes transparent, add butter and mix well.
  5. Add the rice and let it harden slightly for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Pour white wine and let it evaporate, stirring constantly.
  7. Add the mushrooms, a soup polish and stir continuously in circular motions.
  8. After the soup is completely absorbed, add another full polish and continue to stir. Repeat the procedure several times.
  9. Once the rice is ready (boil it well, for about 17 minutes), take it off the heat and add a generous portion of butter and parmesan.
  10. Mix well and serve.
